Ever wondered how many times an average person farts per day? Yeah, all guys wonder these things from time to time.

Most farts take place at night; the dark really is a scary place after all. Excess gas can make us think twice about our overall dietary habits and health, but gas itself is a perfectly normal daily occurrence. The average person farts 14 times a day.

Most gas is the product of partially undigested food.  Although gas is perfectly healthy, having too much and letting one loose when out for dinner is not exactly something to cheer about. Below are three tips to reduce the chances of ruining the night with a stinker.

1.     Reduce swallowed air: This means try not to drink from a straw, chew gum, eat too quickly, or have carbonated beverages.

2.     Limit sugar alcohols: Often found in protein bars & shakes, and candy. Sugar alcohol is partially undigested and routinely creates extra gas for many.

3.     Reduce large portions at meals:  Keep an eye on not overdoing common gas producers — broccoli, cabbage, lentils, beans, dairy, onions, etc. There is no need to eliminate these foods, but a simple reduction in portions may help.

Not to get too serious here guys, but In some cases, excess gas is associated with a digestive disorder. If your gas is giving you severe pain and excess bloating, make sure you pay your doctor or registered dietitian a visit.
